about me

A woman with long brown hair and green eyes stands outdoors next to a tree, smiling with arms crossed, wearing a black blazer and a light green top. There are blurred green trees and a sidewalk in the background.

Hello! I’m Ariel (pronounced air-EE-uhl) Shearer (she/her). I’m a queer, white, cisgender woman, and I find deep meaning in caring for and about the wellbeing of others.

My path to becoming a counselor has been shaped by a broad range of professional and personal experiences, alongside years of academic and clinical training. After a decade in journalism and nonprofit work, I felt called to shift my focus—from influencing systems on a larger scale to supporting healing and growth one person at a time. That call led me to pursue a master’s degree and career in mental health counseling.

I believe we all have opportunities to make decisions that can lead us toward living our best life, and that we all face different obstacles. As a queer woman, I feel that my therapeutic work is enriched by my multicultural and feminist perspectives, and I am especially passionate about supporting neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ individuals.

My personal journey has equipped me with an optimistic perspective of mental health and a deep wellspring of hope that I strive to share with others. I look forward to co-creating a space where you feel seen, heard, and supported as you step into the fullest version of yourself.
